President
Muhammadu Buhari has today, during the Federal Executive Council meeting, administered
oaths of office on four Special Advisers and a permanent secretary at the
Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Those
sworn into office are Adeyemi Dipeolu, Special Adviser on Economic Matters;
Maryam Uwais, Special Adviser on Social Investment; Tijani Abdullahi, Special
Adviser on Planning, Babafemi Ojudu; Special Adviser on Political Matters; and
Rafiu Enikanolaye, who was appointed Permanent Secretary in July and deployed
to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Uwais, Ojudu and Dipeolu were
deployed to the Office of the Vice President, Abdullahi was deployed in the
Ministry of Budget and National Planning. While it is commendable that Buhari
has eventually done the needful in appointing an economic adviser, eyebrows are
raised as to why Dipeolu is not working directly with president to fix an
economy that is in an utterly bad shape. Let's hope Mr President really knows what he
is doing with this move.
