IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER LANDS IN NIGERIA ON FOUR-NATION TOUR

Javad Zarif, the Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Abuja this morning. His arrival in Nigeria will kickstart a four-nation tour of West Africa aimed at improving bilateral diplomatic and trade relations with the region.
He is scheduled to meet with senior Nigerian officials on areas of mutual interests between both countries before proceeding to Ghana, Guinea-Conakry and Mali.
It will be recalled that Saeed Koozechi, the former Iranian ambassador to Nigeria was recalled on May 25th bordering on his utterances following the Nigerian army/ Shiite clash in Zaria, Kaduna state. His interference in what was considered Nigerian internal affairs had drawn huge attention and consequent campaigns by some civil society organizations in Nigeria and the National Human Rights Commission calling for his return to his country.
